In the pages of this blog the musical elements
of two examples from different musical cultures are compared and contrasted.
This investigation will show through the links found in form, melody, and use
of microtones the musical similarities between Julie Fowlis’s “Oganaich ùir A Rinn M’fhàgail”
and Muddy Waters’s “Champagne & Reefer.” Differences between the songs such
as rhythm and overall tonality will also be mentioned.
