Chord Progression

By taking a look at the guitar chords for the two examples similarities can be seen in the chord progressions.

  • A to D starts out both songs (Although Muddy Waters uses a D7 chord specifically).
  • D to A to E (or D7 to A to E7 in the Muddy Waters example) occurs in both songs as a typical progression.
  • However, whereas Fowlis finishes with D to E to A, the Waters example will add another D7 with D7 to E7 to D7 to A7.
  • Also, the Fowlis example is actually in a different key as it is played with a capo on the 2nd fret.
